Rules of the Road

These are the terms for reading and using RCSI USA Tech Notes. They are written to be read, not skimmed past, and by using the blog you accept them.

Information, not instructions for your case

Our articles explain how technology, software and related services generally work. They cannot take account of your particular device, contract, location or circumstances. A step that works on one laptop may look different on another, and a market described in one article may have changed by the time you read it.

Nothing on the blog is legal, financial, tax, insurance or medical advice. Pieces that touch on property, loans, citizenship, health technology or business compliance are general background. Before acting on a decision of that kind, speak to someone qualified who can look at your whole situation.

Trying things yourself

When you follow a guide, you do so at your own discretion. Back up anything important before changing settings, updating software or opening hardware. Follow the manufacturer's safety instructions, which always take priority over a general article. If a step makes you uneasy, stop and ask the maker or a professional.

Using our content

The text, layout and graphics of the blog belong to the site unless stated otherwise. You are welcome to:

  • link to any page;
  • quote a few lines, credited and linked to the article they came from;
  • print or save a page for your own personal use.

Please do not republish whole articles, present our writing as your own or use it to train automated systems without permission. To ask about anything beyond these uses, write to inbox@rcsi-usa.com.

Outside links and named companies

Articles sometimes mention or link to outside companies, products and services. We have no control over those websites and cannot vouch for their content, prices, availability or conduct. Check the terms of any service yourself, including whether it is legal and licensed where you live, before you sign up or pay.

Accuracy and corrections

We work hard to keep articles accurate and up to date, but we cannot promise that every detail is complete or current. When we learn about a mistake, we correct it; the process is described on Spotted an Error?

Liability

To the extent the law allows, we are not liable for losses arising from the use of information on this blog or from websites we link to. Where the law does not allow liability to be excluded or capped, these terms leave it untouched.

Privacy

How the blog handles personal data is set out in the Privacy Policy, and the single preference we store is explained on About Stored Preferences.

Changes to these terms

We may revise these terms as the blog evolves. Whatever text appears on this page today is the text that governs. Significant changes will be reflected in the date below.
