About Stored Preferences
Most websites describe their cookies in long tables. This one stores a single preference, so the explanation fits on one screen.
What gets stored
| Entry | Kept in | Why | Lasts |
|---|---|---|---|
| Accept or decline answer | Local storage in your browser | Stops the notice from asking again on every page | Until you delete it |
Local storage is a small area of your browser where a page can save a note for later. Unlike a classic cookie, the note is not attached to every request you make; it simply waits on your device until the page reads it. The entry here contains no name, email or identifier.
What does not get stored
The blog runs no visitor statistics, no advertising, no retargeting and no embedded widgets that set cookies of their own. Pages look and behave the same whether you accept or decline. The notice exists mainly to be open about that one entry.
Seeing or removing the entry
Every major browser lets you inspect what a site has stored:
- Open the browser settings and find the section for privacy, cookies or site data.
- Search for rcsi-usa.com in the list of sites.
- Remove its stored data; the notice returns on your next visit.
Developers can also open the browser's built-in tools, look under the storage or application tab and delete the entry there. Browsing in a private window has the same effect, because the browser discards everything when the window closes.
Accept or decline: what changes
In practice, nothing you can see. Both answers are saved the same way, and both simply tell the notice to stay out of your way. We offer the choice because you are entitled to know what a site keeps on your device, even when the answer is a single line of text, and because a notice that cannot be dismissed would be more irritating than informative.
Links that leave the blog
Plenty of our pieces send you elsewhere with a link, and the sites on the other end may use cookies under their own rules, which you can usually read in their privacy or cookie pages.
If this changes
Should the blog ever need to store anything else, this page and the notice will be updated first. For the wider picture of how we handle data, including hosting logs and email, see the Privacy Policy. Questions can go to the team via Send a Message.
